Because it is two-paragraph Internet rant and not an essay.
It’s not because it’s short. From my perspective, the one sentence up top sets up a false dichotomy that throws the message off, and also implies that supporting public transport means they’re going to take your cars away, and a lot of people aren’t in favor of that at all. I’m a big supporter of and user of public transport, but like a lot of rants, it would probably have been better to say it a different way.
