Too true. For example, if FDR’s domestic opposition had been like today’s Republicans, then there wouldn’t have been a coherent US response to WWII in Europe even after Hitler declared war on the US.

But with lead pipes, baseball bats, brass knuckles, they filled all the hospitals in Manhattan with Nazis with broken bones.
