As has been amply pointed out by some commentators in recent days; Obama’s wording on the subject of Gitmo is curiously slippery. He promises to IMMEDIATELY… begin looking at the problem… to think about how to maybe close Gitmo… in a year.

Could be, he’s aware that this is a no-win solution, and is just buying time.
