I assumed at first that Sarah’s role was just to stand there, make McCain look good and serve as a blank screen for voters to project their image of the ideal VP candidate.

That’s obviously what they thought, because she obviously had no other appeal when it came to actual ideas or ability to govern. Purty lady with the nice rack.
