The CBA gives players the right to take up to 3 days for leave for the birth of their child(ren). Murphy’s taking a leave as allowed in the CBA.

Why is this even an issue? Oh wait. It’s troglodytes like Francesca and Esiason on sports talk radio trying to gin up a controversy.

Heck, Francesca has been shown to be unable to make it through an actual show without dozing off.

It’s a nontroversy as far as the Mets and Murphy are concerned. It reveals more about Francesca, Esiason and the rest who think that the time away to celebrate the birth of a child will somehow be what keeps the team from the playoffs.

Umm, it’s the bullpen and starting pitching that will keep the Mets from making the playoffs - the same issues that have dogged them for years. Well, that and timely hitting.
