Having been estranged from both friends and family for extended times, I can relate and I am sorry for your loss. (((hugs))) The family thing is harder, I’m not sure if it can ever be made right again. The friend thing isn’t as difficult and I’m glad we’re getting a second chance.

We just found out a friend we drifted away from has stage 3b lung cancer and stage 2 emphysema. He’s in his late 40’s. He has a 5 percent chance of making it past 5 yrs. Went to see him in the hospital over the weekend, and he burst into tears when he saw me. All the reasons why we drifted apart went away, I mean really, it’s just not fucking important anymore.

I hope you can find a way to make peace with all this and find some way to move forward. It sucks, and I am sorry CL.
