The Republicans have succeeded in persuading white middle and working class Americans of the following propositions:
1. The estate tax is wrong; the wealthy should be able to pass on their entire fortune to their family. They owe nothing to society.
2. It is wrong to expect the wealthy to help fund education for the masses. Let everyone pay for their education themselves.
3. It is wrong for the wealthy or the healthy to have to support health care for the masses; people should be able to provide for themselves and their families. If they can’t , it’s their fault.
4. The best taxes are sales taxes. Everyone pays the same.
5. Regulation is evil and hampers the economy; it is best if private business can be unfettered and make all decisions without any restrictions.
6. Private business are always better than government entities. That is why everything should be privatized, including prisons, the VA, the military, etc
7. Poverty, especially among minorities, is completely the fault of the poor.

The Ayn Rand cult has had a toxic effect on our society; it has helped lead to Trump — the notion that the wealthy are better at everything, including governing.
