Getting back to what you said originally, i think it does come back in other ways to where things went down. Nevada is out in the periphery of the nation while NYC is at the very center. Acts of defiance that might be endurable down in the boondocks are not tolerable in the nation’s largest city.

Moreover, it’s easier to take down the kind threats we’re talking about in New York City. Regardless of who is making the arrest (local or federal), law enforcement can deploy in overwhelming force with excellent knowledge of the area. This virtually ensures that even if the suspects violently resist they’ll be either arrested or killed.

In Nevada outside of Las Vegas, law enforcement does not have as great a depth nor the same knowledge of the terrain. Thus a raid is more likely to end with the suspect escaping or in a prolonged standoff.

Las Vegas is not the “boondocks.” There are plenty of people who know the “terrain.” Good grief.
