That’s just not an argument that stands up to scrutiny. Proportional (% based) taxation is just that: proportional. Your argument would, if true, only establish that the income levels that designate the shifts between brackets would be different, but not that the actual burden is proportionally different.

12% is 12% is 12%.

I’m showing that your original statement:

“We haven’t had it so good in terms of taxes for 100 years. Claiming taxes are too high is, at least historically speaking, bullshit.”

is generally false. I provided a single example showing the person making $200,000 today is paying a rate (36%) that is 3 times higher than the same person making the equivalent in 1939 dollars.
