Taken in isolation, some of his points have a certain appeal: less government, lower taxes, legalizing recreational activities. Just don’t open your eyes too wide…

Given the extent to which he’s a confedereate— that he supports extremely strong states rights— I don’t think it’s actually right to say he wants less government. He wants less federal government, certainly, but he’s often said things that imply he thinks the states have very few limitations on their ability to restrict rights.
