The letter was kind of mean, and I would have complained about the lights themselves.

I always think of those horrible displays as “How much more money can I give to the electric co this xmas?”

Can you imagine having that shining into your house at all hours? You’d have to dig out war time window coverings…

I think it is much more likely they wrote the letter to themselves for media attention after some neighbors might have made fun of their display.
