re: #340 Dark_Falcon
But the real reason for saying the Westboro Baptist Church is not Christian is the same reason as saying the ‘Islamic State’ is not Islamic: The speaker or writer is trying to say that he is not bigoted in general against the religion the fanatics claim to be a part of. It’s a way to say to non-fanatical Christians and/or Muslims that they are not the ones targeted by the speaker.
As Sergey pointed out, the reasons for saying it differ according to the speaker. Have you looked at the timeline of the woman ausador was responding to? I think not, because if you had you’d know that she was clearly asserting is that what Muslim fanatics do is acceptable standard practice in Islam, whereas bad/violent behavior by Christians isn’t acceptable standard practice in Christianity.
IOW, it’s okay to paint Muslims with the same ugly brush, but not Christians because Christianity is morally/ethically superior. Naturally, she’s cherry-picking verses and totally talking out of her ass, making her utter ignorance of what is or isn’t acceptable standard Islamic practice WRT jihad (or anything else for that matter) obvious.
@ausador Saying u r Christian and then robbing banks doesn’t make bank robbing a sect of Christianity. Killing yazidis is part of Islam.— Katie Lehr (@burkepeaches) September 20, 2014
@ausador Don’t know why this is so hard to get - they don’t act in accordance w/scripture whereas Islamists act in accord. with many surahs.— Katie Lehr (@burkepeaches) September 20, 2014
@ausador I have knowledge to cite Christian doctrine. Ur false claims that the kkk r similar to Islamists; just an ignorant smug slur— Katie Lehr (@burkepeaches) September 20, 2014
@ausador @Thebull1980 @GOPMommy No - but there are Christian principals that Christians violate. Jihad is not a violation of Islam.— Katie Lehr (@burkepeaches) September 20, 2014
@ausador @Thebull1980 @GOPMommy. I asked what tenant of Christianity westboro/KKK were espousing? Answer, BTW, is none.— Katie Lehr (@burkepeaches) September 20, 2014
