re: #341 HappyWarrior

I think the first 17 months of Trump have proven Bernie wrong a lot too. Bernie doesn’t seem to value international relationships as much as Trump does. I think that’s why even though name recon isn’t a problem for Bernie at this point, it’s why he trails Warren and Biden as a hypothetical candidate and I think will fall behind others as they began to raise their profiles. But yeah, I think Bernie is as short sighted as Trump. What honestly troubles me is that candidates like Ron Paul, Bernie, and even Trump seem to have a good amount of appeal for young people. They’re seen as revolutionary but honestly Bernie’s living in the past as much as Trump is. Now there are problems Bernie brings up that are legitimate problems with our society but Bernie also wants us to only focus on those and just see the others as mere distractions.

as to the second part. exactly

as to the first:
anyone who spends any time actually trying to understand what’s going on in the country, the world, at any point in time, not just now, to understand politics, policy, issues, etc etc, will see that all the moving parts are extremely complex, complicated and democratice resolution is always messy imperfect compromise (short of dictatorship)

so if i can broad brush this, that kind of appeal is because it’s simplistic and ignores so much reality.
