I believe it was former Senator Fred Thompson that correctly described the one thing Governor Palin brought to the campaign that no other candidate did — she could speak “Downhome”. Whatever her weaknesses in policy knowledge, she could connect to audiences in a manner akin to Presidents Reagan and Clinton.
Here is her problem - she didn’t do a great job of faking the downhome. Most of those who were not very conservative, didn’t buy it.
