I’m not very well-read. I do like Edgar though.

Back in ancient days when I was in high school, my composition class was given an assignment to pick any short story and deconstruct it in a report.

I chose to write about the physics and mechanics involved with “The Pit and the Pendulum.” Got a big question mark on my report (and an “A”)

Most of my reading of the classics was done in high school, with a few selections in college. I owe my recollection of them mainly to my long-term memory, which used to be a lot better. I certainly don’t remember all of them; Heart of Darkness, in particular, I didn’t even wind up finishing.
