Damn good point. This sort of thing filters out working class and poor people. AND it gives a distorted perspective to the politicians they’re serving. It makes it VERY easy for those politicians to get out of touch with the working class.

I guess it depends on how you define working class.

I want my legislature and their staffs to be professional and paid accordingly. I don’t want them to be underpaid nor ilinformed. I want them to have the skills and knowledge to handle the issues that a legislature must deal with today.

Those qualifications might eliminate some working class people.

As for legislator staying connected to working class people, many of them probably were never really connected to working class people. And those who were probably remained so over the years
