As for President Obama himself… I can’t help but keep thinking about the 1961 Harry Truman interview on Hulu (which I might post again on the overnight thread spin-offs)… Truman commented quite a bit about the state of the press at that time, how they eventually turn on all Presidents, and how Presidents have to be their own men and not beholden to any one group. It’s a good interview.

President Obama likewise, to carry out the duties of the office, will eventually have to be his own man, though there may be plenty of political groups who would like to take credit for getting him into office.
