re: #344 dangerman

as i said the other day, though i cant find the post

few predicted trump was going to win. he could but the likelihood was not

i think the r’s figured theyd posture a few more years either 4 or 8, and then let it slowly die by saying “sorry we tried, nothin’ we can do, its too entrenched now.”

then they won both houses and the oval and it became obvious for all to see there *never* was a plan - it was all bluster under cover that any dem president would veto anything that passed and there wouldnt be a veto proof majority

I think this GOP dysfunction applies to more than health care. It applies to everything. They don’t even have a plan for tax cuts, which is like the grand inquisitor showing up for a witch burning without a sermon to justify the murder.

There used to be a pipeline where stupid conservative ideas would get polished into some semblance of plausibility in their think tanks, and then when they got into power they’d march forward with that irritating inevitability of the W Bush years.

That’s all obsolete, since pandering to the irrational resentments of the GOP base is now the only path forward for ambitious GOPers.
