Ah, OK. That makes sense. Thought maybe they’d accept a waiver for a 48 year old out of shape guy like me for fighter pilot school. :)
The Army is currently letting 42 year olds enlist. I personally can’t imagine going to basic training at that age, but I’m sure there are a few people out there who can.
Our medical branch, like the Navy’s is free to make its own rules, though. I remember reading about a doctor (actually a professor of emergency medicine from Johns Hopkins) who decided he wanted to contribute to the war effort after 9/11. He was 65, as I recall. They gave him a commission as a colonel, but I think he donated his pay to charity.
