re: #344 Fat Bastard Vegetarian

I taught my son the ten/twelve chords I know… and handed him one of those Hal Leonard chord books.

Three or four weeks later he came to me and was playing along with stuff on CDs.

Got him lessons. Three or four years later, (three teachers later) the music place basically fired him. Said, “You dad is paying good money for you to come over here and jam with us.”

He was/is extremely talented. But what helps? Four three or four years (while maintaining a 3.8 GPA, he played four to five hours per day.

My opinion, teaching someone music and how to play an instrument, even if they don’t use it for much of anything later on in life, it does instill a thinking process in them that is very helpful, very natural and can really lend to increasing logical and critical thinking skills…

Does that make sense? I know what I am trying to say, just don’t know if I made that clear.

Of course, jazz musicians are fucked up, neural paths already blown.
