Here in the Czech Republic, a lot of folks have firearms. We also don’t have weekly mass shootings.

It’s something in the culture. Czechs get pissed off like everyone else on that planet, but they’d be far more likely to punch you in the face as opposed to shooting you. And that’s even with people who do have concealed-carry licenses here.

It’s, as many things are, a conglomeration of different problems. A culture the fetishizes weaponry to the point that it’s ridiculously easy to attain, where violence is seemingly the cure to all ills (government-sanctioned killing, wars etc. don’t help any), to a lack of mental-health care and understanding, to the slow, trudging decline of standards of living. I’m sure there’s more, but it all contributes in some way.
