It’s an interesting debate, the video is worth watching. I can see both sides have their merits but in the end I think the religious fundamentalists are exploiting liberal social values as a tool to advance restrictive religious practices. Kind of a neat trick if you think about it.

Well, as an atheist, I’m not liberal about that kind of exploitation.

Having said that, I would never visit a country ruled by religious practices that demanded I shed my rights as a free person at the border, either.

It’s why I stand by the requirement in the US that Muslim women cannot cover their faces on their driver’s license. If they live in this country, they’re under an obligation to follow our laws, even when it conflicts with their religion.
