The feeling I got from GHWB to some extent, but which emanated in waves from GWB, was that the reason they wanted to be President was that people like them were SUPPOSED TO BE President.

GHWB was probably the most qualified person to ever hold the job: time in Congress, head of the CIA, led a political party, ambassador to China, ambassador to the UN, VP. But yeah, he was a Senator’s son from Connecticut who went to Yale and checked all the boxes.
