I never knew your mom was South African. I remember learning about Apartheid in high school watching Cry Freedom and it just made me so sad knowing that our government’s policy was supporting that regime.

My Mom has the best story. She left SA & traveled Europe with a Rhodesian friend. They had a Vespa scooter & traveled the continent. (I have photos) Ended up in the South of France - Villefranche-Sur-Mer - 6th (I think) Fleet USA. They both married sailors. Young as hell these kids. Took their wives back to the US. That’s how I became.
