Skin color is a thing among Chinese and other Asians. Lighter skin is better than darker skin, traditionally speaking. Some Chinese are very prejudiced against Africans and other dark-skinned people. You might have an TEFL degree from Cambridge, but if you’re Jamaican or Indian by ancestry, good luck finding a teaching job in China.

When the Japanese decided to become imperialists in the European colonial mode, they started doing race science to demonstrate they were a superior variety of Asiatic using the kind of anthropometric shit the Germans used, and doing stuff like putting Ryukuans in human zoos.

Especially fucking crazy…Koreans and Japanese are genetically and linguistically related, yet each firmly holds the other is completely unrelated (and inferior).
