3.3 million people live in the county of San Diego, and there are plenty of wingnuts, though the county as a whole as turned away from being majority conservative .

Of course there will be clashes on the beach - let’s face it, coastal California is one of the places in continental US where one can go outside in January and it be sunny and 70F, so lots of people go to the beach (where these people are standing off.)

Many many ex military here, most are not wingnuts.

But Pacific Beach (PB, where these people are) tends to draw two types - people with a bit of money who can’t afford La Jolla (just next door), and beach bum types. And college kids.
