Talk about risky. Can they be sure that the strike itself won’t mix the precursors and lead to a release of nerve gas at the airbase? (Which, no doubt, has civilians living in close proximity.)

That can be solved: Use incendiaries to burn the precursors up. It also will kill some of the base personnel is an extremely ugly way, which should work to demoralize the rest of them.
