If acupuncture makes one feel good, that’s fine. But it’s not a medical treatment. There’s no evidence for bodily meridians, or qi, for that matter. It’s a placebo.

Among the other issues plaguing this country, the move towards rejecting evidence- and science-based medicine towards “alt” and “eastern” ones is another disaster in the making.

The entire point here is to make one feel good. It’s supposed to be an alternative to using opiates for pain control. It’s not exactly the equivalent of treating cancer with homeopathy or rejecting vaccination.
