I mean…I’d argue that it’s not even just one double standard, but multiple double standards compounding atop one another. the Dixie Chicks saying W was bad was bad enough in that atmosphere where liberalism was already considered proto-treason. The fact that it was 3 women who were being outspoken about it just made it that much worse because they should’a known their place!.

It seems well and apparent how ‘liberal’ media establishments are when you see which acts are “allowed” to have redemption arcs, and how said redemption arc usually end up playing out (i.e. pandering to the bigot bases). Woe be unto those who aren’t the right color, sex, orientation, religion, identity, etc. if you want redemption, even from shit you ideally shouldn’t have to be ‘redeemed’ from in the first place.
