G.K. Chesterton and G.B. Shaw were utter enemies in debate, and the best of friends off the podium. They enjoyed each other’s wit. Chesterton, the converted Catholic, and Shaw, the rationalist atheist, had more fun poking holes in the other guy’s arguments than anything you can do with your clothes on.

The sign of a reasonable man or woman is the ability to see that your antagonist of yesterday may have a valid point today.

Some people here missed out on that part of what an “argument” is all about, and continue with the old, ancient, sempiternal schemata of drooling automatic rejection of anything an opponent says.

Pam Geller is a good example, may her name vanish. CaptDiggs is one of our very own epigones of idiocy.
