(I can only imagine, far off in some distant galaxy, some intelligent race, analyzing our various spectra, and sending a probe to analyze the same, would wind up sending back telemetry showing that we got raving lunatics believing in some menacing evil cabal poisoning us with a substance actually helps us (flouride in the drinking water), and at the same time we have a bunch of bovine critters emitting a metric shitton of a gas that eats away at our stratospheric defenses, and at the same time, we burn a black substance that we dig up from the ground and burn that causes all sorts of nastiness to occur, and these intelligent beings, seeing this data start to ask themselves: “What should we do?” The Elder replied, “Let them be-they have become too tribal, too technologically advanced, too cynical, and too greedy-but above all else-they have lost the ability to feel empathy.”)
