Amongst other things, hundreds of US citizens were deported. It was originally conceived as a joint USA-Mexico operation, but Mexico soured on it as it was apparent the conservatives of the day didn’t give a diddly damn about human rights (not to mention deporting non-Mexicans to Mexico).
I think he’s asking more about how people responded to it. That’s a good question. Honestly while I generally approve of the Eisenhower legacy, that one is a stain.
