It’s actually rather sad that we’re sitting here, acknowledging that the people who considered barely adequate for the jobs for which they were nominated are now being replaced with complete fuck-ups for no other reason than they are accomplished kiss-asses. That the ongoing Red Wedding is for no other reason than we have a president who cannot stand being told “No.”

The problem was that fascism simply didn’t breed good leadership succession. Without democracy, leaders stayed in power for far beyond their leadership dates, and in their struggle to retain power generally eliminated anyone even mildly competent. The rest was an inner cadre of gradually diminishing talent, forced to rely on lower and lower sources of income.
