Trump said whatever came into his mind at the time. He knows he can do so without facing any serious consequences because nobody in the press will call him out on it and he has a staff of people to sort out and explain what he really said/meant.

True, though it appears he spoke about it with Putin earlier. The problem with China and SK turning NK into a source of cheap labor is the Kim dynasty. It’s legitimacy derives entirely from the long mishmash of Juche ideology. Take that away and there’s no reason for a Kim-family leadership. I can’t see that going away without some violence.
