Trump’s pathological personality disorders are now glaringly obvious to everyone and the GOP seems to be keeping their fingers crossed that there’s juuust enough people out there willing to overlook those issues and vote to re-elect him.

As they say, “That’s a bold strategy, Cotton. Let’s see if it pays off for ‘em.”

It worked in 2016, along with massive active voter suppression and enough trolls, bots and ratfuckers to convince people to be indifferent or apathetic (“the parties are all the same” “Hillary is also corrupt”, etc.)

It is the only strategy they have left, so it looks like they have to double down on the voter suppression and outright tampering and manipulation.
