How far gone do you have to be to not see how fucking insane it is that we’re actually having a discussion about arming our teachers?

I’ve definitely been having a “through the looking glass” twinge about this discussion. Here in Waziristan West, Lubbock, arming teachers, preachers, and crossing guards is all the rage these days, completely conventional thinking in “family values” circles. I guess they mean the Manson family. I feel as though I went to sleep one day and woke up in the Idiocracy, though in fact the process took quite a few years. I think it started with Reagan essentially telling people that it was okay to be a superstitious rube and a general asshole.
