Wakanda is (as far as I can tell) a hereditary dictatorship. The son got his position because his dad died and his sister got hers because of the privilege of being part of the ruling family.

It’d be like if Trump died and Don Jr. became President and Ivanka was given some important position simply by virtue of birth. It’s pure nepotism it’s just that in the movie the people are competent and not dicks.

Oh, and Wakanda’s insularity makes North Korea look downright friendly and open. Plus, its economy is so good because of random luck from outerspace. It’s basically a fantasy African version of a Gulf state like Qatar or Kuwait.

Don’t kid yourself about what a bad example Wakanda actually is. It’s what makes the villain so appealing.
