The excuse-making seems to have begun now that it’s pretty much impossible for Bernie to win…again.

This is also nonsense on its face. Massive societal change will in fact be easier, not harder, following a pandemic and subsequent depression. Huge catastrophes have led to big changes in society time and again. The status quo always favours the people who have made massive wealth and power under it - that’s why they always try to keep the status quo. Changing that dynamic may be catastrophic, but is also a catalyst for change.
