Same in NYC. People will stand 3-4 feet out in to the street because that’s the only way to see around parked cars in many instances. Increases the chances of getting clipped by cars that turn.

Some cities, including NYC are changing this behavior by building bumpouts for pedestrians at corners. This way, pedestrians remain on the curb and cars remain separated from pedestrians.

1st grade class at St. Finbar’s in Brooklyn. One our fellow students was killed after coming out between two parked cars - baseball. They made us go to his funeral. Open casket, his family was there, mother crying loudly. It was a lesson for us. My mom never allowed us out on the streets alone.
