You are dismissing ALL of what Aslan writes because of that one point, and that’s what I took issue with.

Looking over Aslan’s various comments, a couple of his interviews, a couple of reviews of his book, and my own quick perusal of his latest book - all lead me to conclude that he’s just riding the wave of authors writing pop books on “Jesus” intended to rub the large segment of devout American Christians the wrong way, just enough to generate some heat and thus to sell more books.

If Aslan wants to sell himself as a historical scholar then he ought to act like one.
