Twitter and FB can be sources of information on current events from locations where news reporters are slow to follow up, especially in crisis situations.

But in general, get your news from a reliable source and leave Twitter and FB for news from and about your homies and where they be hangin’

The last place I look for news is FB. In fact, I never go to FB for news. Why? Because I know where to find better sources. Breaking news? I try to find the news source closest to where it’s happening. Go direct to local news outlets, like when there are mass shootings in places like San Bernardino or Aurora or Las Vegas. Then look for their twitter feeds.

It’s as though there’s a progression for where/how to get reliable info. FB is at the ass end of that space.
