All of my kids have had that volunteering requirement for years. It hasn’t been a big deal here. The school sponsors enough events to give the students plenty of opportunities.

I have no problem with the requirement.
It’s the “approved list” of things that bothers me.

Although my kid did find a particular activity that she likes a lot (goes to a local park and helps handicapped kids ride the horses).
