It’s always hard to tell with candidates. I think his record as governor is probably the most reliable indicator. Campaign promises and one paragraph position statements aren’t much to go by.

Do you think he will ever stand up to the Tea Party extremists and just say No to them about anything at all? He hasn’t yet and that is why he has ceded the middle ground. In Massachusetts he was in the minority party and had to compromise and make deals with the other side. In today’s GOP, there is no room for that and he’d be demonized for compromising anything with the Dems, so I don’t know if how he governed in MA means very much here.
