Actually I don’t think so. Trump has no loyalty to any party except himself. He aligns himself with the Republicans for two reasons only: Their priorities are such as will benefit him and his grotesque family, and Obama was a Democrat.

He really does not care about any supposed Republican values: religion, abortion, anti-environment, anti-global warming. The only true values he holds are that he is racist to the core and that he is authoritarian. He knew he could not run as a Democrat because his history of racism would not appeal to their core constituency. And Democrats tend to favor candidates who actually know something about issues.
