I was overjoyed to see my Raptors win it all last year, but my favorite pro sports team of all time hasn’t won a title since 1967 in what is one of the longest title droughts in pro sports.

So I sympathize with your position.

I sort of realized something a few years ago, and it made being a fan a lot easier. In modern pro sports, all things being equal, your team is only going to win once every 30 (or 32) years; you’ll get a trip to the finals every 15 or 16 years as well. Anything better than that is gravy.

Then again, I grew up in the LA area and the Lakers have won 10 titles in my 42 years (with 6 more trips to the finals), so I’m way ahead.
