In fairness, though there is no reason to be fair to Trump, even if we had a competent President the market would likely be crashing because there is no way to get a vaccine developed in less than a year, and the pandemic in China alone is likely to cause economic disruptions.

The markets might not be nearly as volatile with a competent administration; manage the risks better. A better communicator of those risks. A calm president would urge people to be careful, and adjust their expectations during this kind of crisis.

Trump’s not doing any of that. He’s in full on denial and avoidance mode and his howlers are busy claiming a conspiracy is afoot.

Agreed all round. My gut though, is bubbles have been popped by much less.
