re: #318 lawhawk

What GOPer will want Trump or anyone in the Admin campaigning for them? What GOPer will want Trump fundraising for them?

The investigation casts a pall over everything that the GOP does, and even if an individual GOPer attempts to firewall themselves against Trump, the fact is that they’re still pushing Trump’s egregious agenda in Congress - whether it’s the Trumpcare baffling BS (for which there still isn’t a score on their latest effort), or the tax reform that is all about burden shifting from the rich to everyone else.

These are ready made ads for Democrats, who can get a bulk discount by cutting the same ad 435 different ways.

Not to argue too much with your point, but I think you may have one piece of the comment backwards. Is the Congressional GOP really “pushing Trump’s egregious agenda”, or is it the other way round? Myself, I see it more as the Republicans pushing their own agenda, and relying on President Trump’s 1) perceived “popularity” and 2) ready pen to front for their greedy retrograde policies. Of course, there are exceptions (immigration “policy” for one), and a lot of GOP expectations have blown up in their faces; but if you look at the “Trump agenda” so far, it has mainly been “accomplished” (“inflicted”?) via Executive Orders: the one big legislative push (healthcare) has been - so far - a failure.

Of course, this is only what one would expect when a President’s “agenda” consists mainly of shallow and/or hollow campaign sound-bite sloganeering: and said President is too grossly incompetent at governing to do more than tweet sputtering inanities at odd hours, but there we are: can’t say we didn’t have warnings….
