re: #357 Killgore Trout

I have a healthy disdain for the rich too but all these guys are out of touch. Obama too. Remember when he outrageously complained about the price of arugula? Remember the outrage when Bush didn’t know the price of milk? How about John Kerry’s choice of iced tea? Don’t even get me started on the Kennedy family.
Yes, rich people are out of touch douchebags but I really don’t think it’s important politics. I also balk at the idea of someone’s economic or social status invalidates their opinions on a given topic. It would be shitty and bigoted to apply that rule to poor people and it shouldn’t be applied to the rich either.

I don’t care one whit how rich anyone is. I have known lovely wealthy people, some I call dear friends, and I’ve known some assholes. What very much IS applicable with respect to Mr. and Mrs. Romny and their politics is that the social and economic policies they promote are clearly in the “I’ve got mine (including choices), fuck you” arena. They would deny the choices and opportunities they have had to others. Their status does not invalidate their opinions but neither does it shield them as you seem to be calling for here.
