He was our ambassador to Argentina when the Carter administration (praise them) cut back on our aid and support of the Junta there. That was later sadly reversed in the early part of the Reagan years. Something that only got reversed because the Junta invaded the Falklands getting Ronnie’s buddy Maggie T upset.

He became an American citizen the same year he graduated from college. Arizona had a Mexican- American governor!
