Diamond is actually a pop music genius. He is very well aware of the connection of certain chord progressions and the “hook” they are capable of putting into someone head. I don’t have all the details at my finger tips, but with in the science of music there are certain tonal progressions that “trigger” a positive response in humans, are easy to remember and “sing along” with and produce a “good vibe” in a group situation.

Another composer who uses these musical techniques to great advantage is Andrew Lloyd Weber.
